Cardiac arrhythmia is the leading cause of death in the Western world and most of the developing countries including our country Iran. Although approximately seventy-five percent of sudden death victims have a history of heart disease, arrhythmias may strike young and apparently healthy men and women. In addition, among those who have heart disease, it is usually an acute lethal arrhythmia rather than sudden deterioration of the heart that kills. Many other people suffer frequent and disabling attacks of palpitations without ever knowing they can be easily cured by the new techniques available. Despite being a major health problem, arrhythmia causes, prevention, and treatment are poorly recognized or misunderstood.

For the first time in Iran, the pacemaker and electrophysiology department and arrhythmia clinic were founded by Dr. Saeed Oraii in Rajaii Heart Hospital in the year 2000. After leaving the Rajaii Heart Hospital in 2002, “Tehran Arrhythmia Center” was established as the first private subspecialty center for the comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias in Tavanir St., Tehran, Iran. This healthcare organization consists of several cardiac interventional electrophysiologists, general cardiologists, general practitioners, and electrophysiology nurses and has been actively providing outpatient and inpatient care for more than hundreds of thousands of patients from different parts of Iran and other neighboring countries.

At the Arrhythmia Clinic in Tehran, the latest outpatient diagnostic facilities and equipment are available for heart diseases and arrhythmias. For inpatient arrhythmia procedures, including electrophysiology examination, catheter ablation or implantation of pacemaker and “ICD” devices, patients will be admitted to the affiliated hospitals of this center depending on the type of procedure, hospital facilities, and type of insurance. A team of our interventional electrophysiologists and EP nurses will be present in all hospital treatments.

As of September 2020, Tehran Arrhythmia Center has moved to a new location, and the multi-disciplinary team of physicians and nurses continue to provide high-quality patient care at our new location under the supervision of Dr. Saeed Oraii.

Carto 3D mapping device (CARTO)

The latest model of the 3D carto machine is now installed in Nikan Hospital. This device with advanced capabilities has an important application in the treatment of all types of cardiac arrhythmia. Using this technology, the doctors of the arrhythmia clinic find the exact location of the cardiac arrhythmia generator.

Treatment of arrhythmias with cryoablation

The doctors of Tehran Arrhythmia Clinic use the facilities of new technology to treat cardiac arrhythmia with freezing. With this method, new horizons have been opened in the treatment of patients with irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation). In addition, due to the closeness of the center of the rhythm disorder to the normal conduction pathways of the heart, patients who were exposed to damage to these pathways and need a pacemaker can be well treated with this method.

Subcutaneous defibrillator device (ICD).

ICD devices are implanted to prevent cardiac arrest in patients who are at risk. These devices are usually placed on the chest and under the collarbone, and their wires are directed into the heart through the veins. Although these devices have saved the lives of millions of patients, but the embedded wires can be associated with vascular complications. The new subcutaneous technology allows the device to be implanted completely under the skin without entering the veins or the heart.

Wireless pacemakers

Standard pacemakers are placed in a pocket created under the skin above the chest, and their wire is guided through the veins into the heart. In this amazing technology, wireless pacemakers are implanted inside the heart through leg veins without the need to create a subcutaneous pocket and without any scar on the body.
